Arming Scan
Definition: The process of scanning freight to indicate it's ready for inclusion in FarEye's routing algorithm.
Purpose: Signals that the freight is prepared for delivery planning and route computation.
Process: Performed by warehouse staff using company-provided Android scanners.
Conducted on freight deemed ready for the next routing cycle. Initiated based on branch / regional delivery knowledge and operational priorities.
Trip Assignment
Definition: Assigning optimized delivery routes to drivers.
Process: Dispatchers generate routes within FarEye, factoring in various operational elements.
Routes can be manually adjusted by dispatchers to fine-tune delivery plans.
Trips are assigned to drivers in FarEye and pushed to the Mobile Insight app.
Roles Involved:
Dispatchers: Responsible for creating and assigning trips to drivers.
Drivers: Receive trip information via the Mobile Insight app.
Staging Areas
Definition: Designated zones within the warehouse where freight is sorted before loading.
Usage: Organize freight according to assigned trips and delivery zones.
Facilitate efficient loading and dispatch operations.
Naming Conventions:
Doors: e.g., Door 1, Door 2—typically associated with loading docks.
Bays: e.g., Bay 1, Bay 2—areas without direct dock access.
Guidelines:
Keep names simple and intuitive.
Avoid overly specific geographic names to maintain flexibility in freight sorting.
Routing
Definition: Planning delivery routes by considering various factors to optimize efficiency.
Process: FarEye uses armed freight data to compute optimized routes.
Factors include vehicle capacity, driver schedules, package details, service priorities, and delivery time slots.
Operations can adjust routes manually to apply local knowledge or address specific issues.
Integration:
Finalized routes are published to drivers through the Mobile Insight app.
Drivers follow the optimized stop order based on the computed routes.
Freight Sortation Process
Purpose: Organize freight into staging areas for efficient loading.
Process: Warehouse operators scan freight using the Mobile Insight app.
The system displays trip information and prompts for staging area selection.
Freight is placed in the designated area, streamlining the loading process.
Driver Mobile Device Usage
Devices: Company-provided Android smartphones with the Mobile Insight app.
Functions:
View assigned trips and delivery stops.
Access navigation via integrated maps (e.g., Google Maps).
Contact clients for delivery confirmations.
